IIT American Leadership Awards

Pan IIT USA is proud to announce the inaugural “IIT American Leadership Awards”. These awards will be presented yearly and represent a celebration of outstanding successes achieved by IIT alumni in the US.

The awardees will be selected across the following categories. They will be judged based on the broader, positive impact created by them rather than individual successes.

Nomination process:

  • Submit nominations online. You can also email your nominations to nominations@iit.org in case you have trouble submitting them online. Please include name of the nominee, nomination category and as much supporting information as possible
  • Self nominations are acceptable
  • Nominations are open till July 31, 2009, 5pm Pacific Time
  • Awardees will be selected by a panel of impartial judges and will be announced by end of August
  • A formal award ceremony will take place at the IIT 2009 Global Conference in Chicago

Award Categories:

  1. Lifetime Achievement Award:
    • Enjoying golden years of life.
    • Has spent 25+ years in the USA.
    • Has held the top position in well known corporate or academic institution(s).
    • Has received significant recognition from mainstream media preferably listed as a “top influencer” in a reputed publication.

  2. Corporate Excellence Award:
    • Has held top position(s) in well known corporation(s)
    • Has overseen tremendous growth enabling significant employment and wealth creation

  3. Academic Excellence Award:
    • Has held top position(s) in well known higher education institutions such as reputed graduate or business schools
    • Track record of students going on to become successful entrepreneurs/executives/academicians
    • Well respected for research contribution, publications

  4. Social Entrepreneurship Award:
    • Started and/or provided leadership for social upliftment program(s)
    • Significant positive impact within US

  5. Entrepreneurial Achievement Award:
    • Successful serial entrepreneur
    • Significant job and wealth creation
    • Sustained impact instead of “cash out and flame out”
    • Preferably with some evidence of giving back to the society

  6. Technology Leadership Award:
    • Has been credited with creating disruptive technology/product innovation
    • Has led to practical, mainstream productization resulting in job creation and/or significant efficiency gains
