Smita Goel Bagla, President

Graduated from IIT Kanpur in Mathematics, 1984
Graduated from IIT Roorkee in Computer Science, 1986

Smita Bagla is Sr. Architect/ Program Manager at United Health Group, the second largest medical insurance company in the country. She has previously held similar positions at Amgen, Inc, and Alpha Therapeutics. From 1991 to 2000, Smita was a software product entrepreneur in Healthcare arena. She started her career as an AI specialist at UCLA Medical Center. Smita has been very active in the IIT Kanpur and IIT Roorkee Alumni association. In her current role as President of Pan-IIT Chapter in Southern California, she has led annual picnics for Pan-IIT and organized professional panels. Two of these events were in collaboration with Caltech. Smita is also a joint recipient of community leadership award for West Coast in 2001.

Graduated from IITKGP in Physics, 2006

Anirban completed his Integrated M.Sc. in Physics from IITKGP and joined the Physics PhD program at USC from Fall 2006. He is presently working in the group of Professor Stephan Haas on Entanglement, Fidelity and Quantum Phase transitions.

Sameera Poduri, Events Chair

Graduated from IITB in Mechanical Engineering, 2002

Sameera is an IITB 2002 graduate from the Mechanical Engineering department. She completed her Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Southern California (USC) in 2008 and is currently a Postdoctoral Researcher at USC. Her primary interests are in Robotics, Wireless Networks and Machine Learning.
